OUR MISSION
The Friends of Hampton Mounted Patrol, Inc. was formed by local business owners in order to provide ongoing support of the Mounted Unit. Over the years the organization has purchased horses, trailers and related equipment. They have also supported the ongoing veterinary care of the horses.
Friends of Hampton Mounted Patrol, Inc, is a registered non-profit 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax deductible.
The Hampton Police Mounted Unit was founded in 1981 by Deputy Chief Dennis Pelletier (Ret) with the support of the department and members of the community. For the past 43 years the Mounted Unit has demonstrated to be a valuable asset to the community in providing crowd control and promoting a safe environment on Hampton Beach.
From the beginning the horses have created and maintained strong community relationships. Not only does the Mounted Unit provide assistance in maintaining order, but also brings smiles to faces of all ages when attending parades and other community events.
Today the Mounted Unit consists of two trained Tennessee Walkers, Goliath and Tucker. These horses have gone through vigorous training in order to be duty ready.
